Crazy Kid

June 23rd, 2009

Noah. Nothing could have really prepared me for having this little monster. I was always told that having a boy would be different, that boys are always running, jumping, climbing, and getting into all kinds of trouble. But having 2 girls…that’s no walk in the park either…right?

Then he came into our lives. Then he learned to crawl. Then he learned to climb. Then he learned to walk. And now…it doesn’t stop. It never, ever stops. He never, ever stops. Whether he’s dancing on the table, dismantling the screen door to get onto the balcony, swishing the toilet water, getting food out of the trash can, stuffing his face, taking a dump, stuffing his face while taking a dump, climbing the end table to get to the candy bowl, climbing up the bunk bed (which started at 11 months!)…it doesn’t stop. He doesn’t want to watch TV. He doesn’t want to play quietly or color. He wants to conquer!

Just this past weekend, at our Father’s Day dinner…my dad took his eyes off of him for just a few seconds…seconds!…and the next thing you know, he’s totally submerged in the swimming pool, under a plastic chair that he dragged in. After plucking him from the water, he blows the air out of his nose, points at the water, and wants to go back in!…nevermind that he had begun what most other people would consider ‘drowning’!

But to really illustrate…we need a picture, a visual. Please see here, Noah, straddling the top 2 edges of Kay’s bunk bed, holding onto the curtain rod for whatever balance he needs.  Noah, Noah, Noah.  Monster!

oh my goodness. oh my goodness. emily must have about 20 near heart attacks a day! you will need the 5 ft. fence. 6 ft. actually, but i don’t think they allow them that high. and no spaces between slats. no chairs lying around in the backyard. and definitely NO pool!!! kansas city, here he comes! haha. you can just let him run loose in a flat field of grass. =)

welcome to the world of BOYS!!!! i’m so sorry, but i just couldn’t stop laughing throughout your post b/c noah sounds so much like samuel.=) the only reason samuel has never straddled the top of a bunkbed like noah is b/c we don’t have one. i know this isn’t very encouraging, but noah’s only going to pick up momentum from here if you can even imagine that! and yes, i agree w/ lillian, you WILL need a fence in your new home–were you guys even toying with the possibility of not having one?! ours is the only thing that keeps samuel from plowing right into the street!

Wow! That’s crazy high for him. If I get to vote (sadly, I don’t) I’m going to vote for a girl for my family.
